The Shun Kazahana 9-inch Bread Knife is an indispensable kitchen tool. The wide, "low frequency" serrations of this bread knife's blade are razor-sharp and easily slice through any loaf of bread or pastry - whether tender and delicate or crunchy and crusty - with only a gentle back and forth sawing cut. The sharp serrations keep the bread from being crushed or torn as it's sliced.
The full-tang blade of this Shun Kazahana knife is made of AUS10A, a high-carbon stainless steel with exceptional strength, corrosion resistance and hardness. The vanadium in the blade allows it to be sharpened to an extremely sharp 16 degree angle that will slice through any food with ease.
In Japanese, Kazahana means "snow that flickers like petals dancing in the sky." These beautiful knives have the name of Kazahana, as the finish on the blades mimics this beautiful sight. In addition to having an elegant look, the blade's beautiful satin finish serves the purpose of helping to release food from the blade.
Each contoured, symmetrical Shun Kazahana knife handle is made of polished black Pakkawood, which provides a secure, comfortable grip.
