The Buck 55 Knife is a half-size version of the 110, Buck's bestselling knife (thus the name, The 55). The 55 is a compact everyday carry with the classic 110 Knife style, and a blade notch for easy opening. The razor sharp clip-point blade is crafted from 420HC stainless steel, and the knife features striking genuine ebony handles with brass bolsters.
The hand-sharpened clip-point blade has a crescent tip that creates a thinner blade edge with a sharper point. This allows for detail work and cutting in tight spaces. It is also well-suited for creating punctures such as new holes in your belt.
When opened fully, the 2.38-inch blade on the 55 locks safely into position with a lock back design. When closed, the knife is just 3.38-inches for convenient everyday carry.
The blade of the 55 Knife is made of Buck's standard 420HC stainless steel, as this material has both exceptional corrosion resistance and wear resistance. Buck's exclusive Paul Bos heat-treating and testing process maximizes both of these advantages, and makes the blade easy to resharpen when needed. It is hardened to a Rockwell Hardness of RC58 through a rigorous heating, freezing and reheating process.
When the blade is fully opened, it locks securely into place. The lock is released by pushing down on the rocker visible on the top of the knife and folding the blade closed.
The handles of the The 55 Knife are Crelicam Genuine Ebony. Buck has gone to great lengths, partnering with Taylor Guitars, to ensure a sustainable supply model for these genuine ebony handles. Buck treats the natural ebony with resin to create a nearly indestructible handle with a beautiful grain pattern. Please note that, as these handles are made of natural wood, each one is unique.

Determined to provide a safe, sturdy, portable folding knife that locked safely open for use, Al Buck created the 110 Hunter in 1963. The trick was to combine the convenience of a folding blade with the strength of a fixed blade, and he rose to the occasion with this reliable knife design that quickly became a bestseller.
