The Helle Viking Carbon Steel Knife is an ode to Helle's Norwegian heritage and is based on a design that is over 1,000 years old. It hearkens back to knives used on the Viking longships. It is a great addition to the collection of any knife enthusiast.
The thick, triple-laminated carbon steel blade of the Viking knife has a black finish from the heat treating process, and has a narrow stick tang that passes through the handle. It is pinned with a traditional diamond-shaped washer at the end.
As the blade of this knife is carbon steel, it does take care an maintenance to avoid rust.
The wood handle is barrel-shaped with a taper to improve the grip. It is a simple design based on historic Viking knives, and does not have a finger guard.
This beautiful, practical knife is hand made in Holmedal, Norway by Helle's highly skilled artisans in the Helle factory, which is perched on the edge of a fjord. No two Helle knives are identical, as they are handcrafted with natural materials, but they are all inspected manually after the crafting process is complete to ensure perfection.
