While designed for fishing, the Steinbit is also a great addition to any outdoor or camp kitchen, and is very easy to pack and bring with you in the included genuine leather sheath.
The handle of the Steinbit is curly birch wood with a satin finish that brings out the natural beauty of the grain.
The long and thin stick tang blade of this knife is made of Sandvik 12C27 stainless steel, and comes out of the box extremely sharp and ready for use.
"Steinbit," literally, "stone biter" in Norwegian, refers to fish with strong jaws and sharp teeth, and gives an idea of the strength of this blade.
This beautiful, practical knife is hand made in Holmedal, Norway by Helle's highly skilled artisans in the Helle factory, which is perched on the edge of a fjord. No two Helle knives are identical, as they are handcrafted with natural materials, but they are all inspected manually after the crafting process is complete to ensure perfection.

The factory was founded in 1932, and while it has evolved from the factory initially operated without electrical power, the hands of skilled craftsmen are still its cornerstone.Helle knives, though beautiful, are made to be used and are rugged enough to stand up to the wild mountains, fjords and open seas that surround the factory.
