The Buck 503 Prince Knife is a classic, compact everyday carry with a drop point blade, a lockback design and an easy-open nail notch. The razor sharp blade is crafted from 420HC stainless steel, and the knife features DymaLux red wood handles with nickel silver bolsters. It is slightly smaller than the Buck Squire.
The drop-point blade is strong and versatile. It is full bellied and has a thick point for heavy cutting jobs. The drop shape from the top of the blade to the tip minimizes accidental punctures. When opened fully, the 2.5-inch blade on the 503 locks safely into position with a lock back design. When closed, the knife is 3.375-inches long.
The blade of the 503 Knife is made of Buck's standard 420HC stainless steel, as this material has both exceptional corrosion resistance and wear resistance. Buck's exclusive Paul Bos heat-treating and testing process maximizes both of these advantages, and makes the blade easy to resharpen when needed. It is hardened to a Rockwell Hardness of RC58 through a rigorous heating, freezing and reheating process.
When the blade is fully opened, it locks securely into place. The lock is released by pushing down on the rocker visible on the top of the knife and folding the blade closed.
The handles of the The 503 Prince Knife are DymaLux red wood with nickel silver bolsters. They are both beautiful and durable.
