The Buck 113 Ranger Skinner Fixed Blade Knife has the same proportions as the bestselling 112 Ranger that inspired it. This highly capable knife combines the style of the 112, the functionality of a razor sharp drop-point fixed blade crafted from 420HC stainless steel, and striking genuine ebony handles with brass bolsters.
The skinner drop-point blade is full-bellied and has a strong, thick point well suited to even tough tasks. The top of the blade drops down (giving it its name), which minimizes accidental punctures. The high, hollow grind of the blade facilitates long, sweeping cuts, and the full tang handle gives this knife exceptional strength and control.
The blade of the 113 Ranger Skinner is made of Buck's standard 420HC stainless steel, as this material has both exceptional corrosion resistance and wear resistance. Buck's exclusive Paul Bos heat-treating and testing process maximizes both of these advantages, and makes the blade easy to resharpen when needed. It is hardened to a Rockwell Hardness of RC58 through a rigorous heating, freezing and reheating process.
The handles of the 113 Ranger Skinner are Crelicam Genuine Ebony. Buck has gone to great lengths, partnering with Taylor Guitars, to ensure a sustainable supply model for these genuine ebony handles. Buck treats the natural ebony with resin to create a nearly indestructible handle with a beautiful grain pattern. Please note that, as these handles are made of natural wood, each one is unique.
